Tissue Donation

Tissue donation is an option for nearly everyone. Tissue donation saves and improves life. Donation takes place within 24 hours after death and gives many recipients the ability to do things they never thought possible. Through the donation of various tissues from the body, others are given the chance to walk again, to recover from severe burns, or to stand up tall.

Tissue that can be donated:

Bone
Veins
Skin
Heart valves
Ligaments
Tendons
Cartilage

Respect

Trained professionals maintain the utmost respect for each donor throughout the entire process. Recovery (removal) of donated tissue is much like a standard surgical procedure.

Funerals

Tissue donors can have any type of funeral, memorial service, or other arrangements they and/or their families desire. Open casket funerals are still an option, and the donation will not be apparent.

Cost

The donor family does not incur any cost. The recovering agency pays costs associated with the donation.

Plan to Donate.

Take the following steps to ensure your decision to become a donor is carried out:

Download a donor card here. Sign it and carry it with you at all times.

It is crucial to tell your family members that you have decided to become a donor so that they will understand your decision and support it.
